If you simply want to capture the desktop or the active window by all means use the Print Screen or atl Print Screen on your keyboard and paste the capture to Paint or your favorite editor. If you are using Vista or Windows 7 use the snipping tool to select a region to capture, save it and open it in your favorite editor.
If you want to: Capture scrolling windows, web pages using IE or Firefox, Chrome, Opera. Capture images from the web or a website. Capture a fixed region. Capture all dropdown, context menus, even the ones that are "impossible" to capture. Capture Aero rounded windows, with transparent corners. Remove aero background transparency. Add movable text, shapes, arrows, callouts, zoomed, blurred, texture and image filled objects. Add torn, faded edge effects. Multiple image selections allowing image processing on the inside or the outside of the selection. Then Final Impression is the screen capture software you are looking for.
